Apricot kernels have been consumed for their nutritional and healing properties for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years, especially in the cool, arid areas where apricot trees naturally grow. But please note that apricot kernels naturally contain cyanide and you should NOT consume more than 3 to 5 kernels a day. Please note that this is definitely not for child consumption.
Ways to consume Apricot kernels include in jams, pestos, granola, biscuits and also as marzipan. You can also include some in your morning smoothie to promote a healthy and disease-fighting diet. Include some ground kernels in stews, curries and soups as a thickener.
