The exceptional terroir of the Voor Paardeberg ward, as well as the grapes cultivated in the area, has been the source of various international wine awards. It is the location of this ward that makes it so unique. The mountain slopes of the Paardeberg, together with the soil composition and prevailing winds, create a specific quality in the grapes. The wines produced at Ayama have the potential to be part of the elite wines of the country.

GRAPE VARIETY: Shiraz 93%, Pinotage 7%

SOIL TYPE: Gravelly, well-drained soils, as well as Paardeberg Mountain sandstone

SERVING SUGGESTIONS: A wine for classic roasts, great steaks, venison and cheeses. Ideal paired with Indian and Malesian food

TASTING NOTES: Ruby-red colour, the nose recalls fleshy black-cherry, plums, chocolate shadings. On taste is supple, fresh, elegant and very appealing wine with the tannins well integrated and balanced. Spiciness and peppery flavours are insured by the shiraz in major percentage
