The exceptional terroir of the Voor Paardeberg ward, as well as the grapes cultivated in the area, has been the source of various international wine awards. It is the location of this ward that makes it so unique. The mountain slopes of the Paardeberg, together with the soil composition and prevailing winds, create a specific quality in the grapes. The wines produced at Ayama have the potential to be part of the elite wines of the country.

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Merlot from our vineyards

SOIL TYPE: Gravelly, well-drained soils, as well as Paardeberg Mountain sandstone

VINIFICATION: Alcoholic fermentation was completed in steel, at controlled temperature, with frequent punching down. Malolactic fermentation took place in 500 lt barrels and
aged for 6 months. Bottled in late spring

SERVING SUGGESTIONS:  It goes perfectly with game and red meats. Good paring
with lamb or aged cheese

TASTING NOTES: The colour is purple red; the aromas of plum blend with warm hints of coffee and chocolate. The beginning of the mouth is fresh and pleasantly savory. The taste then becomes more complex with an elegant, soft and creamy tannin. The length leaves notes of cinnamon and coffee
