The 2018 Pinotage is fruit driven and made in a style to accentuate the origin of the varietal (Cinsaut and Pinot Noir). The nose reflects an abundance of berry, and red fruits which continue on the palate. Slight oak nuances complement the flavours, but do not dominate.
A combination of 15 - 19 year old irrigated trellised vineyards planted in north / south row direction on deep shale and decomposed granite soil. Early morning hand harvested at 24,5 degrees Balling.
Fermented in stainless steel with regular pump overs. Following fermentation oenococcus oenos bacteria were introduced to finish malolactic fermentation. A fraction of the wine was matured in used French Oak barrels for 4 months. The fractions were blended and further matured in stainless steel until bottle ready.
